Patrick Strainge is no ordinary butcher. As a farmer’s son, Patrick was brought up in a farming community. Today, several members of his family still farm in the Bampton area of Oxfordshire, providing Patrick’s shop with locally reared quality meat.
As well as being a Member of the Guild of Q Butchers and The Federation of Meat Traders, Patrick Strainge has recently been elected as a member of The Worshipful Company of Butchers’ Guild, M.Inst.M. Patrick has also won a large number of awards at National Butchery Championships. These include:

Guild of Q Butchers
As a member of the Guild of Q Butchers, Patrick Strainge has to maintain the highest standards. Every 18 months, a Q Butcher undergoes a rigorous inspection which looks at areas such as:
Quality of meat……Butchery knowledge………Meat preparation…….Hygiene
Patrick has a deep understanding of animal husbandry, as well as butchery. He is regularly called upon to judge livestock at local farm shows, and works with young farmers teaching them judging skills. It is this knowledge which enables Patrick to select only the best meat for his Bampton shop. In addition, he also farms a small acreage himself, often rearing his own beef cattle.
Federation of Meat Traders
Patrick attended Smithfield Meat College, studying Meat Technology, winning the Best Student Award. The shop’s two senior butchers are similarly qualified. As well as being a livestock expert, Patrick is a trained butcher. He is also a member of the Federation of Meat Traders, and regularly attends training courses to ensure his butchery skills are up to-date. Patrick has twice been nominated President of the local branch of the Federation of Meat Traders.
